Does Technological Innovation Promote Haze Pollution Control? New Evidence Based on Panel Threshold Model and Spatial Econometric Model

Since the reform and opening up, China’s rapid economic growth mainly depends on industrial development mode of “high energy consumption high pollution,” which has caused serious haze pollution. In order to achieve goal control sustainable development, we need give full play role technological innovation. Empirical analysis effect innovation theoretical significance practical value. Based panel data 30 provinces in China from 2005 2018 PM2.5 concentration published by atmospheric composition group Dalhousie University, this study selects R&D personnel input technology market turnover represent level uses model, threshold spatial Durbin model empirically analyze impact pollution control. The empirical results show that 1) can significantly reduce province, showing a positive effect; 2) indicates negative indirect concentration, confirming “technology spillover effect,” is, also surrounding provinces; 3) with increase province’s aggregate, shows trend low high,” is lowest stage transformation; 4) perspective regional differentiation, largest central region, smallest western region.
